The Directorate General of Health has issued an
alert regarding weight loss pills based thyroid extracts. To date, fourteen
people were hospitalized and one died, having taken all this preparation issued
by a pharmacy in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. The Minister of Health has
called for a ban with no time for this product. This case highlights the danger

The alert was given on 19 April
following the hospitalization of six people with thyroid intoxication
(palpitations, fever, vomiting ??). All had in common was taking a diet drug
based thyroid extracts prescribed by the same doctor and prepared by the same

people treated with this preparation to lose weight. Meanwhile, the Minister of

Since then, 126 people have been identified: 14 were hospitalized, including
five in a severe state, and one death was recorded. According to reports,
"some of these people were taking other compounding capsules dispensed by
the same pharmacy, which together with capsules thyroid extracts, may
potentiate the effects" .In any case, all the people taking these capsules
should stop taking them immediately and consult their physician. The following
symptoms should alert and bring to seek emergency medical attention or contact
the ambulance by signaling taking these capsules: palpitations, fever, vomiting
and diarrhea. As for the analysis of weight loss pills and samples of raw
