DO SOME DIET PLANS GIVE BAD BREATH?

It is known, some diet plans give you bad breath.

But which ones? Why? And above all, how to react?

Bad breath while dieting: a question of ketosis

Schemes giving bad breath are high-protein diets.
Very high in protein as their name suggests, they have however very little, if any, carbohydrates. However, a body that has more carbohydrates to meet their needs will consume fat to survive. This is also the aim of the plan!
But when we burn fat, called ketones waste are secreted and released into the urine and blood. Volatile substances are then expired ... And as they are as foul, bad breath is guaranteed!

Difficult to fight against bad breath during Plans

Bad breath caused by high protein diets is in fact a sign that the diet works. Hence a real dilemma for people who follow this type of diet. To easily resolve the problem of bad breath, it would suffice to increase its consumption of carbohydrates ... but it means giving the regime itself!
Also, bad breath due to the presence of ketones in the blood can not be eliminated as those originating in the mouth. The best oral hygiene alone will not get rid of.

How to react in case of bad breath caused by a diet?

Solutions against bad breath while dieting is not easy to find, but they exist:
Chew mints. This mask the unpleasant breath, failing to make it disappear. Warning, if you really want to follow the plan to the letter all chewing gum, even without sugar, are not allowed ...
Make sure you do not have another cause of bad breath (teeth problems or gum), which would make the situation even worse.
Drinking plenty of water is important in case of high-protein diet to remove toxins.
It's also good for the health of your mouth, so your breath.
Furthermore, it is also interesting to question the decision to make a high protein diet (type Atkins, Dukan, and others). Indeed, these radical ways to lose weight have other side effects that bad breath. They unbalance the diet, with a high risk of short- or long-term failure.
