What sport to lose weight?


Many of us, discouraged by the plans, say that sport could possibly help them lose weight. But what discipline to choose?

The kilos season

When the warm weather returns, it often has the feeling out of a hibernation phase. However, unlike bears or woodchucks with melted fat reserves for the winter, we find ourselves flanked by a few extra pounds. A slight seasonal swing weight is not a malfunction. Scientists refer to this variation "circannual". But in general, it is considered that do not exceed two or three kilos to maintain a chance to return to a healthy weight.

How to lose those excess pounds? The magazines are full of miracles and regimes-slimming promises. These schemes have almost all the characteristic of being very effective in the short term and longer term hopeless with a failure rate at one year that exceeds 98%. So rather than focusing on reducing calorie intake, we say it is better to increase spending. The practice of sport is so self-evident. And then, a miracle! After one or two hours of intense exercise, we realize that we have already lost weight several kilos. The joy that follows is unfortunately very quickly overshadowed when one realizes that the loss of glycogen, in the order of a few hundred grams, are refunded in full at the next meal and water losses, related to sweating, hardly last longer. In fact, the only good way to permanently lose weight is to burn fat in reserve. But this process is slow and sometimes discouraging. For example, know that to get rid of ten pounds of excess fat, it would run at an average of twenty kilometers / hour ... for three days!

Patience, patience

These figures would tend to cool the ardor of candidates for weight loss through sport. But they must persevere and, little by little, they will see the first benefits morphologically but also mental. Sport actually places the individual in the position to sleep better, eat better, live better. Exercise literally wakes the body begins to secrete more hormones (testosterone, endorphins, growth hormone) which then act to burn the reserves, strengthen muscle tissue, bone, and skin or just to give morale . This renewed dynamism is reflected sooner or later on the scale.

So what discipline to choose?

Opinions are divided. In the past, we swore by the endurance exercises (cycling, jogging, swimming) most likely to burn fat reserves. At present it does not hesitate to recommend more intensive disciplines such as ball sports (football, basketball, etc.), racket (tennis, squash, badminton), gymnastics or even weight training through their action hormone awakening. Presumably, the ideal is to vary the pleasures and take advantage of every opportunity to move. Besides, if he had to choose one recommendation health, it would be to walk, run or bike on average half an hour every day and banish the lifts to climb at least one hundred steps during the day.
